Harrogate Theatre Announces A Magical Festive Adventure With Sleeping Beauty

Harrogate Theatre is getting ready to sprinkle some festive magic across the town. The much-loved pantomime returns from Wednesday 25th November 2026 to Sunday 17 January 2027, promising magic, mischief and festive fun for the whole family.

Following three consecutive wins at the Harrogate Mumbler Awards for Best Christmas Experience (2023–2025), and nominations for Best Script at the UK Pantomime Awards for best event at the Harrogate business awards, Harrogate Theatre’s annual pantomime has become a firm favourite with local families. This year, audiences are invited to join Princess Aurora for a magical adventure packed with enchanting characters and spectacular theatrical moments.

The story begins with a royal celebration, Princess Aurora’s christening. But when Wicked Fairy Carabosse discovers she has been left off the guest list, she casts a terrible curse. On her eighteenth birthday, Aurora will prick her finger on a spinning wheel and fall into a deep sleep lasting 100 years. Can the spell be broken in time, or will the kingdom be lost to an enchanted slumber?

The production is written by David Bown and directed by Marcus Romer, with choreography by Louise Denison and musical direction by Nick Lacey. The creative team also includes set and costume designer Morgan Brind, lighting designer Alexandra Stafford, sound designer Charlie Brown and AV designer Yael Biran.

The production features a fantastic cast of familiar faces! Harrogate Theatre regular Harry Wyatt stars as Dame Nanny Annie Nidderdale, alongside Colin Kiyani as Tom Nidderdale and returning panto favourite Tim Stedman as Silly Sidney, marking his 26th year in Harrogate Theatre’s pantomime. Andy Cryer takes on the role of King Canute of K-naresborough, while Elouise Warboys returns for her second year, starring as Princess Aurora. Ellen Carnazza will play the wicked Carabosse the Evil Fairy, with Christina Harris as Fairy Forget-Me-Not.

Zach Atkinson and Olivia Salmond will take on the roles of the Vampire King/Dracula, alongside their Ensemble Swing roles. And for those wondering where Michael Lambourne might be this year, fear not – he’ll be providing the voice of the Vampire King!

Harrogate Theatre’s pantomime is suitable for all ages, making it an ideal festive outing for families, friends and generations to enjoy together. With school performances also scheduled throughout the run, the production offers local children the opportunity to experience the magic of live theatre.

Sleeping Beauty is kindly sponsored by Harrogate Theatre's Primary Partner, VetDentist.
