Harrogate Buses Don Poppies as Transdev Backs Poppy Appeal
Transdev renews its Poppy Appeal as Harrogate buses adorn poppies, offers free travel for Armed Forces members on Remembrance Sunday & Remembrance Day.
The regional transport operator has renewed its Poppy Appeal campaign for 2026, honouring both current and former members of the Armed Forces.
Dozens of Harrogate Bus Company vehicles, and hundreds across Transdev’s fleets in both Yorkshire and Lancashire, have been adorned with large commemorative poppies.
The regional bus operator is also offering free travel to former and current members of the Armed Forces on Remembrance Sunday (8 November) and Remembrance Day (11 November).
By renewing its Poppy Appeal campaign for 2026, Transdev hopes to encourage its customers to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice – and to donate to the British Royal Legion with what they can.
As the nation prepares to remember those currently serving and those who have formally served in the Armed Forces, Transdev is renewing its Poppy Appeal for 2026.
This includes adorning several hundred of its vehicles across northern England with giant commemorative poppies, including those operated by the Harrogate Bus Company.
The regional bus operator will also be continuing its tradition of providing free transport to all Armed Forces personnel on Remembrance Sunday (8 November) and Remembrance Day (11 November).
Transdev’s free travel option will be available across their whole network to current service members with a Forces ID, and to veterans in uniform or with their medals on.
Managing Director Henri Rohard said:
“This Remembrance Weekend and Armistice Day, we are reminded of the sacrifice that the men and women of our Armed Forces have made for our freedom.
“We hope that by displaying these large poppies on our buses, many of our customers will join us in remembering those who serve and will donate to charitable causes that support our veterans.
“And for those current and former personnel who use our buses, we hope the free travel option allows them to visit friends, family, and local Remembrance events on both of these important days.”
In September, Transdev attended a careers event at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire, represented by several colleagues who had served in the Armed Forces.
The transport company has also joined the UK Ministry of Defence’s Career Transition Partnership scheme, which helps service personnel transition into civilian employment.
For Armed Forces personnel leaving the services, Transdev regularly recruits for engineers and drivers across both Yorkshire and Lancashire. Available roles can be seen online: https://www.transdevbus.co.uk/work-with-us
