Supporting Older People Ball Raises Record-Breaking £16,100 for Local Older People
HDCC member Supporting Older People (SOP) is delighted to announce that its fifth annual fundraising ball has raised a record-breaking £16,300, making it the most successful ball in the charity's history. A huge thank you to all the Chamber members who supported the event, by attending or donating raffle and auction prizes.
Held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the Cedar Court Hotel, the glamorous event welcomed 120 guests from across the Harrogate district and beyond for an evening of fundraising, entertainment and celebration.
Guests enjoyed a sparkling drinks reception, dinner, raffle, auction and dancing late into the evening to popular local band Remember Hillards. The generosity shown throughout the night helped the charity achieve its highest-ever fundraising total from the event.
The ball was proudly supported by Principal Sponsor Vida Care, alongside other valued sponsors Kings Care at Home and Duchy Companion Care, whose support helped make the evening such a success.
James Rycroft, of Vida Healthcare, said:
"At Vida Healthcare, supporting people is at the heart of everything we do, which is why we are proud to support the SOP summer ball. We are passionate about helping older people feel valued, connected and supported, and we are delighted to play a part in such a meaningful event that celebrates and raises awareness for this incredible cause.”
Kate Rogata, Director of Supporting Older People, said:
"We are absolutely delighted to have raised more than £16,300 from this year's ball – our best result ever. This was our fifth annual ball, and it has truly gone from strength to strength, growing in both attendance and fundraising success every year."
"The money raised will make a real difference to older people across our communities and now represents a significant proportion of our annual fundraising target. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who attended, donated prizes, bid in the auction, bought raffle tickets, sponsored the event or helped behind the scenes."
"A special thank you goes to our Principal Sponsor, Vida Care, and our other sponsors whose generosity and commitment helped make the evening possible."
Following the success of the ball, Supporting Older People is already looking ahead to its next major fundraising event – the Cheltenham Festival Ladies' Day Lunch, which will take place at Hotel du Vin, Harrogate, on Wednesday, March 17, 2027.
