New Chamber Member : Artizan International
The Chamber is delighted to welcome Artizan to our growing membership. Artizan is a local and international charity which empowers and supports people with disabilities to meet their full potential, through therapeutic craft activities and skills-based social enterprise.
Their objective is to create communities where disabled people are welcomed, valued and respected as contributors to their community, and given equal opportunities to their peers. Social isolation is decreased, confidence and well-being are increased, bridges are built and negative attitudes are positively transformed.
Disabled people are equipped to support themselves financially through the workplace and skills training received at Artizan and, by their achievements, transform negative attitudes towards them in society.
Artizan has an extensive weekly timetable of activities and services in Harrogate for people with disabilities to engage in. These range from our training Cafe to creative arts and crafts workshops, as well as community projects such as working in schools and their exciting social enterprise creating soaps, candles, and organic body products.
Liz Cluderay of Artizan said “All these services and activities serve to inspire, support and enable our members. Our focus is always on skills development, enhancing employability, and opportunities in the community. The many activities we provide reflect the concerns and priorities of the organisation’s key stakeholders, ie the young adults with learning disabilities that we serve; offering good practice and expertise for young people to gain opportunities in the specialist areas of food, catering, hospitality; and employability at the heart of their projects.”

Every visit, and every purchase, makes a huge difference to people’s lives.
