Local Businesses Invited To Inspire Harrogate Grammar School Students

Harrogate Grammar School's Careers Department is calling on businesses across the district to help young people take their first steps towards the world of work, and the Chamber is delighted to support the appeal.

The school is running a programme of careers events this academic year and wants employers, professionals and organisations from every sector to get involved. Whether you can spare an hour or an evening, there is an opportunity to suit you.

Career Fair: Thursday 19 November 2026

The headline event runs from 7pm to 8.30pm and is open to students in Years 7 to 13 and their parents and carers. Businesses are invited to take a stand and talk to students about what they do, the roles in their organisation and the routes into them. It is a chance to help young people explore their options, understand the skills employers value, and see how work experience and further study can prepare them for the future.

Career Pathways Talks: November and January

Professionals are invited to speak to Sixth Form students about their sector and the different pathways within it. Each speaker gives two talks back to back, and students choose which sessions to attend.

Apprenticeship and Employment Conference: February 2027

Sixth Formers will network with employers at a careers-style fair, then take part in workshops on CV writing, mock interviews and assessment centre tasks. The school is looking for businesses to support the fair, deliver a workshop, or both.

Future Ready Friday

A relaxed, informal lunchtime session from 12.30pm to 1.30pm, where a guest speaker shares their career journey and answers students' questions about their role and industry.

Why get involved?

Harrogate's future workforce is sitting in classrooms today. Giving a little time now helps young people make informed choices, raises the profile of your business and sector, and strengthens the link between our schools and local employers.

How to take part
