Harrogate Event Explores The Links Between Climate Change And Peace

As wars and unrest dominate global headlines, a Harrogate event will shine a light on how climate breakdown fuels instability – and how local communities can respond with hope and action.

“Setting the Climate for Peace: How climate change impacts peace – and what we can do about it in Harrogate” will take place on Tuesday 16 September (6–8pm) at Creative Harrogate as part of the Harrogate Week of Peace.

The evening will be led by Clive Wilson, Chair of the United Nations Association (UNA) Harrogate and author of Leading Beyond Sustainability. Through an interactive discussion about practical action, participants will explore how individual and community actions to reduce carbon emissions can also be seen as acts of peace.

Organisers Zero Carbon Harrogate say the event aims to leave people feeling “inspired, hopeful and empowered to make simple changes that contribute to a fairer, more peaceful world.”
