Harrogate Chamber Presidents Report : August 2026

Members and Colleagues, this report covers the period since our last Management Team meeting on 18 May 2026 and is presented as a chronological record of engagements undertaken on behalf of the Chamber.

It has been a busy and productive quarter. Alongside two monthly members’ meetings that I organised and chaired, the period has been characterised by sustained engagement with North Yorkshire Council, the York & North Yorkshire Combined Authority, Northern Railway, our Member of Parliament, and the campaign for the York to Leeds via Harrogate line.

At a glance:

  • Three monthly members’ meetings (8 June, 13 July, 10 August), the first two organised and chaired by the President.

  • Senior civic engagement: Mayor David Skaith (YNYCA), Richard Flinton and Cllr Carl Les (North Yorkshire Council), and Tom Gordon MP.

  • Seven rail and connectivity engagements, spanning Northern Railway, Railfuture, the line supporters’ group and both Combined Authorities.

  • The President’s Cup awarded to Michelle Hayes of Resurrected Bites at the June meeting.
