Firecage BBQ returns to The Castle, Spofforth
Malvern Inns is bringing its Firecage Barbeque back to The Castle in Spofforth from Friday 31 July, running Thursday to Sunday through the summer whenever the weather is dry.
Already a firm favourite at the company's other Harrogate-area pub, The Square & Compass in North Rigton, the Firecage gives outdoor cooking a starring role.
Smaller plates start at £6 for warm rosemary and sea salt focaccia with herb butter, alongside black tiger prawns with lemon aioli and honey glazed chorizo at £8, and chicken wings in paprika hot sauce at £10. Larger dishes run from a £15 cheeseburger of chuck and brisket with Monterey Jack and chilli jam mayo, through a chargrilled chicken Caesar salad at £16.50 and a sweet chilli and soy glazed gammon steak at £17, up to an 8oz dry aged sirloin with charred baby potatoes, tenderstem and salsa verde at £25. A dozen jumbo black tiger prawns doused in herb butter on the grill, served with lemon aioli and focaccia, are £24, or £14 for six.
Dishes can be adapted for vegetarian and vegan diets on request, and a full allergen matrix is available. The Firecage is also offered for outside catering through Malvern Events, covering weddings, birthdays and private celebrations.
The Castle sits five miles south east of Harrogate and combines a village pub and restaurant with twelve en suite bedrooms and a large garden and terrace. Booking ahead is advised.
