Chamber Urges Harrogate Businesses To Have Their Say At The Great Harrogate Transport Fair

Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce is encouraging businesses across the district to attend the Great Harrogate Transport Fair on Tuesday 22 September, a free public event that combines a showcase of local transport options with a first look at the region's new Local Transport Plan.

Organised by Zero Carbon Harrogate, the fair runs from 5pm to 8.30pm at West Park United Reformed Church, West Park, Harrogate HG1 1BL. Entry is free and everyone is welcome.

The evening opens with a transport showcase from 5pm, where visitors can meet local transport organisations, businesses and community groups, learn about the services on offer and find out about available benefits and discounts. Informal networking follows from 6pm.

At 7pm the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority will introduce its Local Transport Plan, which is currently out for public consultation until November. The Mayoral team will explain the priorities set out in the plan and invite feedback from those attending.

Martin Mann, Chief Executive of Harrogate District Chamber of Commerce, said:

"Transport is one of the issues our members raise most often. How staff get to work, how customers reach the town centre and how goods move in and out of the district all have a direct bearing on whether a business thrives.

"The Local Transport Plan will shape investment decisions for years to come, and this is the moment to influence it. We would encourage employers from Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon, Boroughbridge, Pateley Bridge and across the district to come along, ask questions and put the business case on the record.

"We are grateful to Zero Carbon Harrogate for bringing the providers, the Combined Authority and the public together under one roof. It is a practical way to see what is already available and to say what is still missing."

Local councillors are expected to attend, and the Combined Authority's consultation on the Local Transport Plan remains open until November for those unable to make the evening.

Tickets are free and can be reserved via Eventbrite at eventbrite.co.uk/e/the-great-harrogate-transport-fair-tickets-1998550923612
