Have you ever wondered how to access procurement opportunities with North Yorkshire Council?
Public sector contracts can be a valuable source of work for local businesses, but many firms never bid because the process looks complicated or they are unsure where to start. Next week, North Yorkshire Council's Procurement Team is holding a half-day event to help change that.
What the event offers
Attendees will hear directly from the Council's procurement colleagues about how it buys goods, works and services, where upcoming opportunities can be found, and how small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), voluntary, community and social enterprises (VCSEs) and other local suppliers can put themselves in the best position to bid successfully.
There will also be breakout sessions covering four areas of Council spending:
Construction and infrastructure
Adult and children's social care
Technology and digital services
Regulatory and professional services
These sessions will give a closer look at service-specific requirements and the opportunities coming up across the Council, so you can focus on the areas most relevant to your business.
Who should attend
The event is open to established suppliers who want to understand the Council's current approach, and to businesses and organisations that are completely new to procurement. If you have ever thought "that tender isn't for a business like mine", this is a good place to test that assumption and to meet the people behind the process.
It is also a useful chance to make contacts. Speaking to procurement colleagues face to face, and to other local suppliers in the room, can give you a better feel for how the Council works and where your business might fit.
