Travel Expert Richard Hoyle Celebrates Lifting of FCDO Travel Restrictions
As a Travel Counsellor and a proud member of the Chamber of Commerce, I am absolutely delighted to share a major update that brings fantastic news for holidaymakers and anyone planning a long-haul getaway.
On the 18th of June the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) officially lifted its "all but essential" travel advisory for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Qatar.
This decision follows a diplomatic breakthrough in the region, signalling an easing of the tensions that have impacted Gulf airspace since late February. Crucially for my clients and fellow travellers, this downgrading of the advisory automatically restores the validity of standard travel insurance policies for these incredibly popular destinations.
This is the breakthrough we have all been waiting for. For the past four months, the restrictions on transiting through major global hubs like Dubai and Doha created massive headaches for people trying to get to destinations in Asia, Africa, and Australasia. It forced complex, lengthy rerouting or expensive alternatives.
With the FCDO giving the green light on the 18th of June, I am thrilled to tell my fellow Chamber members and the wider community that both direct holiday travel and transit routes through the Gulf are fully back on the map. Crucially, it means standard travel insurance policies are valid once more. While airlines will take a bit of time to fully normalise their schedules, Emirates and Etihad have maintained operations, and this move provides the absolute clarity I know we all needed just as we head into the peak summer holiday season.
The lifting of the advisory applies to the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and parts of Saudi Arabia.
As your fellow Chamber member, I am inviting anyone looking to book upcoming summer and winter holidays, secure family getaways, or figure out the best transit routes for a long-haul trip to reach out to me directly. I am ready to provide you with expert, personal guidance to get you safely on your way with confidence.
