St Peter’s Church Harrogate: A Festive Season of Music, Markets and Christmas Trees

Three ways to get involved this winter as St Peter’s celebrates its 150th anniversary.

St Peter’s Church on Cambridge Road marks 150 years of serving Harrogate in 2026, and it is celebrating with a packed run of events this autumn and winter. All are open to the whole community, and there are plenty of ways for local businesses to take part.

Jesus Christ Superstar, 19 to 21 November

St Peter’s Players present Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s rock opera live on stage at St Peter’s Church for three performances only. Shows are at 7.30pm on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th November, with a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday 21st. This is a church production by arrangement with LW Entertainment Ltd.

Tickets are £15 (16+). Under 16s go free, although a ticket is still required. Book at ticketsource.co.uk/st-peters-church, by email at stpetersdramagroup@gmail.com or by phone on 07850 409 186.

Christmas Fair, Saturday 28 November

The annual Christmas Fair takes place from 10am to 3pm. Visitors can enjoy a café with homemade cakes, a book stall, children’s toys and games, gifts, handmade cards, ceramics, crafts, paintings, candles and local honey, plus a raffle and a bottle tombola. It is a good chance to shop local and find something special while supporting the church.

Anyone who would like a stall or can help on the day should speak to one of the clergy. The team is also collecting donations of toys in good condition, filled bottles, teddies for the Teddy Tombola and empty jars. Please bring them to the church and leave them at the end of the curved walkway.

Christmas Tree Festival, 5 to 12 December

The Christmas Tree Festival returns to the church from Saturday 5th to Saturday 12th December, and organisers are keen for it to be the biggest, brightest and best yet. Individuals, families, clubs, groups, societies and businesses are all welcome to enter a tree of their own, and there is no charge to enter.

Trees can be real or artificial and can arrive ready-decorated or be decorated in the church between 30 November and 4 December. Power is available for lights, with mains-operated lights preferred. Visitors will vote for their three favourite trees, and the winners will be announced at the 9.30am Family Service on Sunday 13th December. Donations from visitors support the church and its good causes.

Entry forms are available in the church or can be downloaded from the St Peter’s website. Completed forms should be returned to Annabel Hutchison by Friday 20 November. Trees will ideally stay in the church over Christmas and are collected in the week commencing 28 December, between 9.30am and 3pm. All trees must be removed by 1 January, and real trees cannot be disposed of by the church, so please make sure they are collected.
