Learn More About Martyn’s Law : A Must For All Hospitality Venues
North Yorkshire Council and Counter Terrorism Policing North East are proud to be hosting an engagement event for businesses sectors, community organisations, Parish/Town Councils and event organisers to help raise awareness of The Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, also known as Martyns Law, and assist those attending to understand the requirements set out in the legislation.
What is Martyns Law?
Martyn’s Law is a piece of legislation that aims to ensure public premises and events are better prepared for terrorist attacks. This legislation is aimed at any premises that is wholly or mainly used for one of the purposes listed in the Act - such as retail, education, healthcare or worship - and reasonably expect that at least 200 individuals may be present at the same time, at least occasionally, will have to comply with Martyn’s Law.

This FREE event will be delivered by subject matter experts from Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP) and will include advice, guidance and updates on the work that police and partners are doing to mitigate the terrorist threat. You will gain a valuable insight into Martyns Law and understand the requirements set out in the legislation, whilst also being informed of free training opportunities for you and your organisation. This is also an excellent networking opportunity.
The event is on Friday 26th September 2025, hosted at Harrogate Convention Centre, King’s Road, Harrogate, HG1 5LA from 9:30 until approx. 15:30.
