JJB Office Services Enter First Half Marathon
Jenni from JJB Office Services, and the fantastic secretary for the Chamber, will be running her first Half Marathon at Croft Circuit on 30 November to raise funds for Harrogate Homeless Project. Whilst this may not be a challenge for some, she’d never run further than six miles when she signed up for the event.
She told our Chamber representative,
“I can't imagine how frightening it would be to lose your home. To be unable to return to your home, or to find yourself in a situation where you feel you can no longer live in your home, for whatever reason.
Just as I can't really imagine what it's like to be really, really cold, with no way to get warmer, or to feel unsafe when I sleep, and not know where my next meal is coming from. I've been very lucky. But sadly, not everyone is as lucky as I am. Even in Harrogate, supposedly a prosperous town.
I wanted to do something to help. Something that meant that people got a hot meal, a roof over their head, and help to get back on their feet when they have fallen on hard times.I'm not someone who has ever been athletic. I once got a report card that read "So far this term, Jenni has looked at hockey and netball".
