Harrogate Chamber : A Message from the President — Spring 2026
Well, it appears the sun has finally read the memo. After a winter that seemed determined to overstay its welcome — rather like a bad Wi-Fi connection that lingers just long enough to ruin your most important video call — spring has arrived, and with it, a very welcome change in the air. Long may it last. We've earned it.
And do you know what? The Chamber has rather had a spring in its step too.
These past few months have been quietly, productively busy. I've been representing your interests at the rail stakeholder tables, and I'm genuinely pleased to report some real progress. LNER have restored key London connections from 30th March — a meaningful win for members who rely on that link for trade, talent, and the occasional well-deserved trip to the capital. Conversations about longer trains, platform upgrades, and the long-term future of the Harrogate line are substantive and serious, and I can tell you with confidence: Harrogate's voice is being heard at those tables.
Beyond transport, it has been truly heartening to see this district's energy on full display. Healthcare professionals are launching new networks, our members are taking to the stage at leadership events championing women in business, and the next generation is already engaging with the future of our town. This community never stops impressing me.
Our next gathering at the beautiful Old Swan Hotel on 11th May will shine a spotlight on retail and tourism — the very things that make Harrogate the remarkable place it is. I do hope you'll join us.
The sun is out. The Chamber is firing on all cylinders. Things, I'd say, are looking rather bright.
Phill Holdsworth, President
