Harrogate BID To Bring A Taste Of The Town Centre To The Great Yorkshire Show

Harrogate BID is preparing to showcase the very best of the town at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show, bringing a mini version of Harrogate’s high street to one of Yorkshire’s biggest events.

Harrogate BID will be bringing a taste of Harrogate town centre to The Great Yorkshire Show in 2026.

The Business Improvement District (BID) will once again attend the show, creating a dedicated Harrogate area designed to highlight the town’s fantastic retail, hospitality, leisure, education and visitor offer.

Taking place at the Great Yorkshire Showground on Tuesday 14 - Friday 17 July, the event attracts 140,000 visitors from across the country every year, providing the perfect opportunity to showcase everything Harrogate has to offer.

This year’s concept will bring together a wide range of Harrogate businesses and organisations, creating a snapshot of the town centre experience for visitors to explore.

Businesses and organisations involved include Starling, Your Harrogate, Yorkshire Cancer Research, Duchy College, Slingsby Gin, Stump Cross Caverns, Ake & Humphris, Mama Doreen’s, Harrogate College, Verity Frearson, The Majestic Hotel, Skipton Building Society, Hempwell, The Turkish Baths and The Crown Hotel.

From independent businesses and visitor attractions to hospitality venues, education providers and heritage organisations, the area will demonstrate the variety and quality that makes Harrogate such a unique place to visit.

Jason Maxwell, Chief Executive of Harrogate BID, said: “The Great Yorkshire Show is one of the biggest opportunities we have to put Harrogate in front of a huge audience and showcase everything that makes our town special.

“This year, we’re delighted to work closely with the Great Yorkshire Show to create a mini Harrogate high street, bringing together some of the brilliant businesses and organisations that contribute to the town’s identity.

“Our aim is to encourage visitors to explore Harrogate beyond the Showground, whether that’s coming into town for food and drink after the Show, planning a future visit, discovering our independent businesses or experiencing everything else the town has to offer.

“Supporting footfall, increasing spend and promoting Harrogate as a leading destination are key objectives for the BID, and this is a fantastic opportunity to champion our businesses on a major platform.”

Rachel Coates, Show Director of the Great Yorkshire Show, said:

"The Great Yorkshire Show has brought hundreds of thousands of people from all across the UK to Harrogate since the Show was first held at its permanent home, the Great Yorkshire Showground, in 1951.

"We are delighted to be welcoming the BID back to the Show, in a bigger and better way than ever before to showcase the brilliant local retail, leisure and hospitality scene that the Great Yorkshire Showground is proud to be a part of."

Businesses and events held at the Great Yorkshire Showground contribute £73.7 million to the economy.

The BID’s presence at the Great Yorkshire Show supports the organisation’s ‘A Vibrant Town’ objective, outlined in its Business Plan, which focuses on delivering events, campaigns and initiatives that attract visitors and support the local economy.
