The York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority is introducing a FULLY FUNDED initiative in our region that can help support your organisation’s workforce health, wellbeing, and productivity - the Good Work, Healthy People programme, delivered by NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board

The Good Work, Healthy People programme is a range of support services designed to help employers and employees, across York and North Yorkshire to improve health, wellbeing and workplace support. The programme brings together resources and tailored activities that can enhance staff wellbeing, boost morale, reduce absenteeism, and help your workforce thrive for free.

What the programme offers

For your employees:

  • Our York and North Yorkshire Trailblazer Resilience Hub offers prompt psychological intervention and professional support. By using a biopsychosocial model, we address biological, psychological, and social needs, ensuring a comprehensive approach to workplace support. Service users receive an initial specialist assessment, up to six professional sessions, and guidance on additional support for issues like bereavement or loss.

  • Our individual menopause support offers access to a service called Peppy Health, which can help you manage your menopause symptoms and learn more about this important life stage. Peppy Health offers two one-hour virtual consultations with a qualified nurse prescriber, as well as access to its handy app, a large library of guidance, videos, articles and courses, and group chat and support.

For employers:

  • Practical support and guidance on how to improve the health and wellbeing of your workforce with access to a range of training for line managers including:
    Health and wellbeing conversations
    Introduction to coaching
    Equality, diversity and inclusion
    Menopause awareness

By utilising the support offered by this programme, your business can benefit from a holistic approach to workforce health, which can help support retention, reduce sickness absence and demonstrate to your team that their wellbeing is valued.

Why this matters for your business

Numerous studies show that supporting employee health and wellbeing not only improves individual lives, but also enhances workplace productivity, engagement, and overall organisational performance. A healthier workforce tends to be more resilient, creative and capable of sustaining high performance.

This programme is part of a broader regional effort to support employers and employees through the York and North Yorkshire's Mayoral Combined Authority's Trailblazer programme, and it aligns with similar workplace wellbeing initiatives across Yorkshire and the Humber.
