Free Seminar Will Help Charity Leaders Identify And Manage Key Risks
Yorkshire charity leaders and senior team members working in the third sector will gain practical advice on managing the key risks facing the sector at a free seminar being held at Hazlewood Castle next month.
The Managing Risk within the Charity Sector event will take place on Tuesday 10th November, from 10am to 1pm, bringing together experts in investment, finance, employment law and insurance to explore the risks charities face and how they can be mitigated.
The seminar follows the success of a previous charity event organised by LCF Law, which brought together charity professionals and provided practical insight across areas including people, property, investment, cash and fundraising.
The latest event will take a closer look at four areas of risk that can have a significant impact on charities, starting with investment.
Partner in Investment Management at Evelyn Partners, Matthew Wells, will explore the risks of not having a robust investment strategy and detail how having a clear investment strategy can contribute to a charity’s long-term financial sustainability.
Senior Partner and Chartered Accountant at HPH Chartered Accountants, Adrian Rodaway, will focus on how strong financial governance can build trust, strengthen accountability and reduce risk.
Partner and employment lawyer at LCF Law, James Austin, will address employment-related issues, providing practical steps charities can take to reduce the risk of successful tribunal claims when dealing with disciplinary issues.
The event will also examine the growing threat of cyber risk. Branch Directors at insurance brokers PIB, Chris Barritt and Ryan Parker, will explore the dangers facing organisations in an increasingly digital environment and how charities can safeguard themselves.
James Austin said: “Charities operate in an environment where managing risk is critical, whether that relates to financial decisions, governance, employment issues or cyber security. These are areas where the consequences of getting things wrong can be significant, so it is important that trustees and senior staff understand the practical steps they can take to manage these risks.
“This free seminar is designed to provide useful, accessible guidance that charities can apply within their own organisations, whilst also providing an opportunity to share experiences and learn from others working in the sector.”
