Family Festival Returns To Spiegeltent For Summer Of Fun

From beatboxing and Indian dancing to a feelgood ceilidh and spectacular science – this year’s Family Festival has something for youngsters of all ages.

The weekend-long Festival, which runs from 27-28 June in the Spiegeltent, in Harrogate’s Crescent Gardens, brings together an array of action-packed performances and activities.

The fun starts on Saturday morning with SPRUNG, an early years performance featuring puppetry, songs and engaging storytelling – a perfect introduction to theatre for babies and toddlers.

This is followed by The Big Beatbox Jam – anenergetic, all-ages workshop with flautist and beatboxer James who transforms voices into music. Audience members can contribute silly sounds, try the mic, and help build a track live, with James remixing everything in real time to create a vibrant shared performance.

The brilliant Cut A Shine bring the feelgood factor with their lively family ceilidh. Expect upbeat music, easy-to-follow instructions, and plenty of laughter as everyone joins in together.

On Sunday, families can immerse themselves in a world of colourful sarees and scarves with the Indian Dance for Families workshop, designed to put young and old through their paces.

Circus Leeds will bring a thrilling sprinkle of magic to the Spiegeltent, packed with daring feats, strongman stunts and record-breaking tricks, followed by a hands-on workshop for children and grown-ups.

Sublime Science conjures up magic tricks in a spectacular family show packed with experiments – including Giant Smoke Rings, Mini Rockets and foam volcanoes.

The weekend fun draws to a close with the Baby Broadway Family Concert, featuring professional West End singers, bubbles, puppets, and dance moves for all.

Sharon Canavar, Chief Executive of Harrogate International Festivals, said: “The Family Festival is a fantastic, fun-filled way of encouraging our children to explore the world around them.

“And I can’t think of a better setting than the Spiegeltent from which to stimulate young minds and help them discover the joy that music, dance, science and storytelling can bring.”
