BID Supports Multiple New Business Openings In Vibrant Harrogate Town Centre

Harrogate BID is very pleased to see multiple new business openings in the town centre over the last few months, contributing to creating a vibrant, bustling hub.

There have been more than 10 new openings in Harrogate town centre since the start of the year.

Since the start of 2025, more than 10 new businesses have opened in the centre of Harrogate, including jewellers, office space, homeware, clothing retailers, bars, restaurants and more.

From inspiring homeware at Søstrene Grene and statement fashion pieces at Sosandar, to comfortable workspaces at WorkWell and tasty food and drinks at the new Mayfair bar, the openings have expanded the town’s business community with some fantastic new additions.

According to the latest figures from North Yorkshire Council, Harrogate’s vacancy rate currently stands at 7.8% - almost half the national average lower than other local areas – and launches such as these will only help to drop the town’s rate further.

The Business Improvement District (BID) team are delighted to see new openings and are confident they will have a positive impact on both the local economy and community.

Matthew Chapman, Harrogate BID Chief Executive, said: “We’re thrilled to see so many new businesses opening within our town centre so far in 2025.

“It’s fantastic to see these well-known names putting their trust into Harrogate and we’re very confident they will see positive results.

“As reflected by our low vacancy rate, Harrogate is an attractive place to operate with a vibrant town centre and it’s always great to see new additions coming into our community.

“As the BID, we’re looking forward to working alongside these new organisations in our town and sharing ideas and experience.”

As outlined in the BID’s ‘Voice & Vision’ objective, the organisation is always keen to engage and lobby with businesses outside of the town to encourage them into Harrogate by showcasing the location as a top place to work, shop and live.

The BID recognises that having a positive blend of both national and independents across all of the various business sectors is key to a successful community.
