The idea involves two local charities, Supporting Older People & Horticap.

After the success of the community based project we did before Christmas, where we engaged 23 different local businesses to give out a variety of goodies to create over 150 “self-care bags” (Harrogate's care heroes get a festive treat with help of local businesses | Harrogate Advertiser), we were struck by a new idea to help support the local community here in Harrogate again and I wondered you would be interested in getting involved at all?

If you weren’t already aware, SOP provides services for residents in Harrogate and Knaresborough including home visiting and social activities, when restrictions allow, to reduce isolation in the local community. Horticap are a local charity that provide a space for adults with learning, and other disabilities, to train in horticulture, allied crafts and rural skills, while running a fully functional garden centre, shop, tea rooms and garden area for the public to use. Both of these local Harrogate based services do a lot to help our community, and we would like to raise a little money to say thank you for all the work they do.

The idea would be to gift a £10 voucher to as many of the SOP volunteers as the money raised will allow, to recognise them for all their hard work supporting the older generations of Harrogate District since the lock down has begun. This voucher will then be able to be redeemed at Horticap to spend on a plant for their house, or garden, to improve their overall sense of wellbeing through the power of bringing that little bit nature in their home!

Any business, or individual, that does contribute will be mentioned in all PR associated with the community project moving forward.

The minimum amount we are looking for is £10 per voucher,(each voucher will list the business that paid for it’s creation) and I wondered if you might be interested in donating, or know any individuals or businesses that might want to get involved to support the project?

No problem if not, but I thought seen as you are known as a networking extraordinaire of Harrogate I thought you might know a few people who would be interested in supporting!

If you, or anyone you know may be interested in supporting the project please use the link below to donate.
