Making a Difference in Harrogate District - Our Impact 2020

We are pleased to share our 2019/20 Impact Report with you.  (click here to read PDF or view as flip book here) . The aim of the report is to illustrate how HADCA continues to work as a multi-purpose charity to improve the lives of people across the Harrogate District, by supporting charities, volunteers and communities. I hope you will enjoy reading the report and finding out about the wide range of activities we have supported over the past year.

We always welcome feedback on our services, together with ideas and suggestions you may have about any improvements we can make. If you wish to find out more about our work please do not hesitate to get in touch and you and your team members would be very welcome to attend one of our regular introduction sessions. You find out more about the services we provide on our website https://www.hadca.org.uk/  and you can also keep in touch via Facebook and Twitter.

Our trustees, staff and volunteers are committed to ensuring that we do everything we can to support and encourage the charities and volunteers who make such a positive contribution in our District and to ensure the sector’s voice is heard by decision makers and funders.

Partnership working is vital in addressing local community needs. This year we’ve continued an excellent partnership with Harrogate Borough Council and Two Ridings Community Foundation on the development of THE LOCAL FUND for the Harrogate District, with £69,500 given to local projects in 2019 and, for the first time, in 2020 funding available towards running costs, to ensure vital grassroots organisations are not themselves left struggling at the time they are most needed. Growing local giving is vital for the future sustainability of our local voluntary and community sector.

In this partnership, HADCA has also continued to support THE LOCAL LOTTO for the Harrogate District, which has raised which has raised over £93,000 for local good causes since it launched in 2018.

In March, our HELP community services were reshaped almost overnight to offer frontline Covid-19 response support. We recruited an additional 230+ volunteers to offer our ‘Here to HELP’ service to support people isolated at home and without friends or family to assist them.

Looking forward at HADCA we’re certain that we continue to have a vital and valuable contribution to make as a locally led and based support charity, who know and understand our varied communities, our voluntary organisations and partners. We are now well placed to continue to mobilise and harness the rich tapestry of local connections we have to enable good things to happen every day, however difficult it is for us all out there.

Right now it seems really vital to give people hope for a positive future. Together we can improve the wellbeing and quality of life for more local people. At HADCA we will continue to be bold and brave in encouraging generosity and kindness and working in partnership to ensure that everyone in our District can feel part of and supported by our community.

We very much look forward to working together in these challenging times and wish you and your team all the very best for the year ahead.

Best Wishes
