The project aims to showcase the work carried out by the Club and Community Foundation, along with some fun competitions and unique content along the way.
The timing of our showcase is also meaningful as Harrogate Town AFC CIO (the affiliated charity to Harrogate Town AFC) officially launches in December – with their aspirations laid out in a brand new ‘Community Strategy 2020-2023’. Focusing on, ‘Improved Health and Wellbeing, Connecting Communities and Increasing Life Chances’.
Over the 25 Days of Christmas there will be a chance to learn about some of the programmes and their impact, including the Player Development Centre (PDC), BTEC Education and also ways in which we are giving back to the Community.
Tom Blackburn, Community Officer explains, “This project is a great way to introduce the new Charity to the wider public, but also highlight and showcase the excellent work that is taking place within Harrogate Town AFC. Over the 25 days there will be acts of kindness, competitions and unique content – something for everyone!”.
Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions the opportunity to carry out our normal Christmas activities/gift giving has been affected. Instead of resting on our laurels, we have come up with even more ways to give back. Providing a number of much needed items for local causes and working with fellow charities, such as;
- Harrogate Homeless Project
- Resurrected Bites (Food Bank)
- Harrogate Hospital Community & Charity
- Local Care Facilities (including Granby Care Homes)
- Disability Action Yorkshire
- Individuals that live in supportive housing
This will truly be a Club and Community effort, with 1st team players already showing their support via a monetary donation and continued involvement virtually.
