Dear Sandra,
I am pleased to confirm that our much-anticipated new Azuma services between Harrogate and London
King’s Cross will be introduced from Sunday 15th December 2019.
These new Azuma services will offer increased connectivity, thousands more seats and an enhanced
experience for customers travelling with LNER.
The new Azuma trains allow us to provide a two-hourly Harrogate service, departing London at 07:33, 09:33, 11:33, 13:33, 15:33 and 17:33 Monday to Friday, with six services a day in each direction on Saturdays and Sundays as well. Southbound services, Monday to Friday, will depart Harrogate at 07:34, 09:36, 11:36, 13:36, 15:36 and 17:36. Two of these services in each direction will also serve Horsforth, meaning that there will be three more stops at this station compared to today, with further Horsforth stops being added in the future. Further details of the new timetable are appended to this letter.
Harrogate is a very important destination for LNER and we are delighted to be creating significantly more opportunities for business travellers, tourists and international visitors to visit Harrogate and experience the town and surrounding area for themselves. We fully appreciate the benefits this will provide to the local community, businesses and organisations.
Our Azuma fleet will significantly improve the customer experience, with an extra 7cm of leg-room in Standard, our best Wi-Fi, greater accessibility and a Let’s Eat Cafe Bar, in addition to the popular Standard Class trolley for at-seat service. Customers in First Class will enjoy complimentary two course meals freshly prepared in the onboard kitchens using locally sourced ingredients from our East Coast route. First Class also includes larger tables, reclining seats and both USB and plug sockets at every seat.
The Azuma fleet also has seats designed to maximise comfort and support posture, and a new traffic light reservation system alongside clear digital displays above seats makes it easier for customers to find reserved or available seats onboard.
The introduction of Azuma trains into service is a major milestone in the history of the LNER route and for Yorkshire. We look forward to welcoming you onboard an Azuma very soon.
Yours sincerely,
David Horne
