LNER gives spectators special Azuma preview for UCI Road World Championships in Harrogate

19 Sep 2019 by Brian L Dunsby OBE

London North Eastern Railway (LNER) will run special Azuma services between Harrogate and Leeds during the UCI Road World Championships, giving spectators a preview of the new trains ahead of their introduction on the route later in the year.

Seven Azuma services will run between Harrogate and Leeds on the weekends of 21st/22nd and 28th/29th September, when thousands of spectators are expected to gather in the spa town.

Suzanne Donnelly, Commercial Director at LNER said: “Harrogate is a really important destination for LNER so we wanted to support the town and help visitors during the UCI Championships by providing extra services. We’re pleased to provide thousands of extra seats by using some of our brand new Azuma trains, allowing visitors to get a taste of what’s to come before they’re permanently introduced on the route.”

From the best ever WiFi, plug sockets at every seat and more legroom in Standard class to extra space for bags, ergonomically designed seats and an excellent range of refreshments served at seat or from the Cafe Bar, the new Azuma fleet will transform the journey experience.
