Raworths Literary Lunch

How well do you know your neighbour? Find out this July, as Raworths and Harrogate International Festivals join forces for a dining experience focusing on the human psyche. Join us as we shine a light on the mysterious Dark Net and find out how to spot a psychopath!

Jamie Bartlett, Director of the Centre for the Analysis of Social Media and author of The Dark Net, has met everyone from radical extremists, women performing webcam sex shows, to civil liberty groups evading censorship from repressive regimes. The anonymity of the Dark Web makes it hard to police. An expert on social media, Jamie explains how tech is changing political and social movements. He explores the big unanswered questions about how governments and security agencies deal with the threats the internet poses

Author of Is There A Psycho In Your Life? forensic psychologist Kerry Daynes has worked with some of the country’s most notorious psychopathic criminals, from inmates in maximum security prisons to high risk individuals in the community. Studying the criminal version, she has become increasingly aware of psychopaths in other walks of life, and how they operate. Most of us sit on the scale of psychopathy, some of us are borderline, and some hide in the corporate world, where greed, risk-taking and egotistical avarice can be necessary to success. Kerry Daynes has appeared as an expert on the subject on a multitude of TV shows, including the documentary series The Making of a Monster.
