Thanks to a deal between bus operator The Harrogate Bus Company and Harrogate Borough Council, everyone who catches the bus can ask the driver for a “Transdev Treats” voucher for two-for-one admission to all five council run swimming pools in Harrogate district.

The offer includes pools at Harrogate Hydro, Starbeck, Knaresborough, Ripon and Nidderdale – and it’s ideally timed as cost-conscious families look for ways to make a healthier start to the New Year.

The Harrogate Bus Company’s General Manager Alan French said: “Our Transdev Treats vouchers already offer great savings at visitor attractions locally and across Yorkshire, including Stockeld Park near Wetherby, Ripley Castle, Harewood House and many more.

“Thanks to Harrogate Borough Council, our customers can now also benefit from two for one admission at any of the five council-run pools across Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon. And with our money-saving deals on daily and weekly travel around town and country, the saving starts before the swimming.

“All our customers need to do is ask the driver for a Transdev Treats voucher when they board the bus, and then show it to the reception team at any of the five local swimming pools to benefit from two for one admission. With many people thinking of easy ways to get fit and save money after the festive season, it’s the ideal time to dive in and grab a great bargain!”

Councillor Stanley Lumley, Cabinet Member for Culture, Tourism and Sport at Harrogate Borough Council, said: “I am pleased to support this partnership, Swimming is an excellent way to boost health and enjoy a fun time out at the same time.

“The bus is the number one environmentally-friendly way to get to the pool without any driving or parking hassle, and this offer brings the two together at a time when family budgets are likely to be stretched after Christmas and the New Year.

“This offer means two adults can enjoy a swimming session for as little as £4.90, and with discounts for children up to the age of 15 and senior citizens, the whole family can hop on a bus to the pool and enjoy a splashing time!”
