Ben Garcia is a keen traveller on public transport in the UK and abroad, and is relishing the chance to start his own journey as Transdev Blazefield’s Graduate Management Trainee.

Ben was born in Gateshead, but grew up in the Spanish town of Torremolinos where his family lived for eight years before moving to Brighton.

His first experience of working in the bus industry came as a teenager, when he worked on-board a coastal open-top bus service in Brighton – and he says from that moment, he’d “caught the bus bug!”

University beckoned and Ben studied politics and history in Plymouth for three years, spending one year living and studying at Colorado Mesa University in the United States. During his time in the South West of England, he also worked for Plymouth Citybus in their travel shop, responding to customer service enquiries face to face and by telephone.

Ben’s now realising his ambition to work full-time in the bus industry, and is thrilled to be joining Transdev Blazefield at the company’s offices in Harrogate.

Ben says: “After graduating I wanted to join a company which constantly strives to be the best, not only in its relationship with its customers, but also with its staff. Transdev Blazefield has so many innovative ideas, from VAMOOZ – the go-where-you-please crowdfunded app-based travel service, to the brilliant Transdev Go mobile app.

“I wanted to join Transdev Blazefield as it’s a company which will help me develop, but most of all it’s the great people who make the company an inspiring place to be part of. And the buses are amazing – from the market-leading 36 between Ripon, Harrogate and Leeds, to Britain’s Most Scenic Bus Route, the Coastliner between Leeds and the Yorkshire Coast.

“I’m very much looking forward to travelling on our network in Lancashire and Yorkshire, and meeting people throughout the business – and I can’t wait to get stuck in and help to deliver the highest standards of customer service.”

Welcoming Ben to his new role, Transdev Blazefield CEO Alex Hornby said: “I’m thrilled that Ben has joined our team, and look forward to seeing and helping him develop and grow as a successful manager with us.

“Our reputation is built on attracting and developing the very best skills and talent available. Ben’s enthusiasm and passion for public transport are the ideal qualities for his role, and we’re all delighted to welcome him on board.”
