Could you be the voice of Harrogate’s brand new 100% electric buses – the first of their kind anywhere in the UK?
Eight ‘next generation’ zero-emission electric single deck buses will soon be powering into service on routes linking Harrogate town centre with Bilton, Jennyfield and Pannal Ash, as part of a £2 million investment by parent company Transdev.
They’ll be the first vehicles of their kind in regular service anywhere in the country, as Harrogate becomes the first UK town to permanently introduce the new buses. Ahead of the launch, The Harrogate Bus Company is searching for a proud local to become the friendly voice of the high-tech buses when they enter service in the town later this year.
Alex Hornby, CEO of The Harrogate Bus Company, said: “These new zero-emission, 100% electric buses will put Harrogate on the map as a transport centre of excellence. Our company will be the first in the UK to offer this as a permanent application to help reduce carbon emissions on buses that people will want to be seen on.
“I’m immensely proud that we’ve secured £2.25 million in funding under the Government’s Low Emission Bus Scheme alongside a £2 million investment from Transdev to introduce these buses to Harrogate and change the face of the local bus network.
“We also believe that no-one knows better than our own customers what makes an amazing journey who travel with us every day. That’s why we’re looking for someone who will quickly become one of the most familiar voices in Harrogate – could it be you?”
Entering couldn’t be simpler. Entrants simply need to follow two easy steps to be in with a chance of becoming the ‘voice of Harrogate’, welcoming customers on board the most up-to-the-minute buses in Britain.
· Step One: Upload a 30-second video of yourself to YouTube or post it on Facebook – or on Twitter using the hashtag #HarrogateVoice – saying why you should be the voice of Harrogate’s new 100% electric buses – the more creative the video, the better!
· Step Two: Email the link to your video to: email@example.com.
· Closing date for entries is Monday 11 June 2018.
