The Keighley Bus Company steps in to provide all day, seven days a week service and make route the best it can be

Otley’s leading bus operator, The Keighley Bus Company, is to add current daytime journeys on one of the town’s most popular local bus routes to its popular family of local Wharfedale Links services.

Currently, evening and Sunday afternoon services on the 965 bus route linking Weston and the Wharfedale Hospital with the town centre are already provided by The Keighley Bus Company, with other daytime services on the service run by First West Yorkshire.

Following this week’s announcement that First is to cease running its buses on the 965, The Keighley Bus Company is now to take over all journeys on its current timetable from Monday, 23 October 2017 after it was approached by the West Yorkshire Combined Authority following First’s decision to withdraw.

The town is already well served by other routes run by The Keighley Bus Company, including its successful Wharfedale Links buses between Otley and Wetherby, Holt Park, Ilkley, Cambridge Drive, Wharfedale Hospital and Leeds Bradford Airport – plus its popular 62 bus linking Otley with Ilkley and Keighley, with buses running up to every 30 minutes.

The Keighley Bus Company General Manager Colin Booth said: “We’re already proud to be Otley’s leading bus operator, and we’re delighted to be able to take the initiative and decide to run a complete daytime and evening service on the current 965 route, when First withdraw their current daytime journeys in October.

“The 965 daytime journeys will make an ideal addition to our well-established and popular local family of Wharfedale Links services in and around Otley.

“This is a ‘no brainer’ addition to our network, and of course, when all the current 965 journeys become part of Wharfedale Links in October, our customers will be able to use our great value multi-journey travel tickets throughout the day, including our K Day, K Card and Daytripper passes.

“Our immediate intention is to replicate the current timetable, but we have some time before we start running buses on the route to consult with customers in case there are any improvements or changes they wish to see. We’re really keen to hear from bus users in Otley with suggestions on how we could better integrate the 965 with our other services in and around the town.”

As its family of services in and around Otley grows, brand new buses amounting to an investment of over £1.3 million will enter service with for The Keighley Bus Company as it demonstrates its long-term commitment to high quality local public transport.

The Keighley Bus Company also benefits from being part of Transdev, a proud member of the West Yorkshire Bus 18 programme and one of Europe’s largest and most experienced transport operators with a strong reputation in Britain and Europe for delivering high quality and the highest standards of customer service.
